COURCHEVEL Altiport

A UNIQUE ALTIPORT IN THE HEART OF THE ALPS

The COURCHEVEL Altiport is an iconic mountain airfield nestled in the heart of the Alps, at 2007 meters altitude in the famous ski resort of COURCHEVEL. Built in 1961, it is Europe’s oldest and highest altiport. Its distinctive feature is a short, sloping runway, directly integrated into the terrain, offering a spectacular flying experience. Accessible all winter long thanks to a permanent snow-clearing service, it is a privileged gateway for travelers in search of speed and comfort.

equipment and commitments

Today, the runway is 537 meters long and 80 meters wide, with a gradient of up to 18.5%. The Altiport registers some 5,400 movements during the winter season, 70% of them by helicopter. To welcome pilots and passengers in the best possible conditions, the site has two reception chalets, a control tower, hangars and a refuelling service. Committed to a more responsible future, in November 2022 the COURCHEVEL Altiport was awarded “Airport Carbon Accreditation” (level 2), underlining its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.

Our adventure with the Courchevel altiport

The famous Altiport de COURCHEVEL, has at to create magnificent woven key-rings in the emblematic colors of the of the airfield. Each model features the six-pointed snowflake, a strong symbol of the resort’s visual identity and unique mountain spirit. On the reverse, we added the famous aeronautical phrase “Remove Before Flight”, in white letters on a red background, a nod to the world of aviation. In view of the success of this model, we’ve added several colors (blue, gray, black, etc.), as well as gold and silver metallic threads on some models, for an even more original and unique touch.  It was a real pleasure to work with the Altiport team, and to contribute to a project like this.
